Our projects for faith-

Cheyanne- Last time when I was working on my Personal Progress I chose to memorize the Living Christ, it was a very memorable experience, and it absolutely brought me closer to my Savior. How I have done this was a memorizing progress, just like I am going to do with my next project. My next project will be memorizing "The Family: A Proclamation to the World". What an exciting faith growing experience I am going to get from this, especially when it is based on family, one of the most important things we have. It is there for a reason, to learn it, live it and love it. Most important, it is part of the plan of salvation. So, how am I going to memorize the Family Proclamation?
*Have each sentence typed on one paper.
*Draw a picture for every sentence to assist me in understanding it.
*Do one or more pages every day.
*Go over and over it
*Take one step at a time, and learn it all :)

Elder Christoffersons Talk-

Tina: I loved this talk! It was so perfect for me to listen to it right now. He says "In times of distress, let your covenants be paramount and let your obedience be exact." I've been struggling with my health since the middle of February - I needed this talk.

"We need strong Christians who can persevere against hardship, who can sustain hope through tragedy, who can lift others by their example and their compassion, and who can consistently overcome temptations. We need strong Christians who can make important things happen by their faith and who can defend the truth of Jesus Christ... "

"What is it about making and keeping covenants with God that gives us the power to smile through hardships, to convert tribulation into triumph, to "be anxiously engaged in a good cause, . . . and bring to pass much righteousness" (D&C 58:27)?

First, as we walk in obedience to the principles and commandments of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we enjoy a continual flow of blessings promised by God in His covenant with us. Those blessings provide the resources we need to act rather than simply be acted upon as we go through life.1 For example, the Lord's commandments in the Word of Wisdom regarding the care of our physical bodies bless us first and foremost with "wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures" (D&C 89:19). Furthermore, they lead to a generally more healthy life and freedom from destructive addictions. Obedience gives us greater control over our lives, greater capacity to come and go, to work and create. Of course, age, accident, and illnesses inevitably take their toll, but even so, our obedience to this gospel law enhances our capacity to deal with these challenges."

"When we have entered into divine covenants, the Holy Ghost is our comforter, our guide, and our companion. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are "the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all things; that which knoweth all things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth, justice, and judgment" (Moses 6:61). The gifts of the Holy Spirit are testimony, faith, knowledge, wisdom, revelations, miracles, healing, and charity, to name but a few (see D&C 46:13–26).
It is the Holy Ghost that bears witness of your words when you teach and testify. It is the Holy Ghost that, as you speak in hostile venues, puts into your heart what you should say and fulfills the Lord's promise that "you shall not be confounded before men" (D&C 100:5). It is the Holy Ghost that reveals how you may clear the next seemingly insurmountable hurdle. It is by the Holy Ghost in you that others may feel the pure love of Christ and receive strength to press forward. It is also the Holy Ghost, in His character as the Holy Spirit of Promise, that confirms the validity and efficacy of your covenants and seals God's promises upon you.5"

What a powerful talk. I could have just put the whole talk on here...It gives me a lot to ponder upon.

Cheyanne: Working on my personal progress with my wonderful mother the first time was such great experience. I am so excited to start working on my personal progress for the second time. It will be such a spiritual growing experience that will definitely bring me closer to my Savior and to learn more of myself and who I am. Working on the personal progress with my mother will also make it more special, and a greater experience to spend time on it with her and getting to know each other more as we come closer to Christ.

How do I feel that having prayers strengthens my testimony and faith?
As I get more consistent on my prayers, and am truly talking to my Savior in prayer, I feel the spirit more often. The things that I pray for may be things that I am thinking about during the day, and when I feel the spirit more I am able to listen to the Holy Ghost more. When that comes up you feel more happy, which is a true testimony strengthener.

Tina: As I was pondering upon faith last night, my sister Kari came to mind. She lived in Australia for 10 years. She has a son there, Jake who is 10, he is living with his father. She had a great business- a nail salon, many clients, a nice home, car and furniture. She mentioned that one time when she was showering she had a strong impression that she need to get Taren and Lexi (2 of her children to America) She struggled tremendously with the choices she was going to have to make. She finally called and said she was going to make the move. Another sister, Sherri and I flew to Australia last year to help her pack things up and to help her make the move. That was one of the hardest things I have seen someone have to sacrifice. Selling things on ebay, trying to decide what could be shipped over, leaving beautiful furniture out on the curb for anyone to take. Having to leave Jake, many friends, & Lexi's (her daughter) huge pet rabbit. Having the rubbish man come and haul away beds, furniture, just about everything that was left. It was really heartbreaking to watch. She gave up so much, having faith in what was possible. Since then her son- Adam, is going on a mission to New York and will leave soon. Adam baptized Teran, and then Teran baptized Lexi. She is a great example of a woman having faith!

Tina & Cheyanne starting our journey.

Today Cheyanne and I started working on the Personal Progress program together!

We are working on Faith #1. These are the scriptures we read today. They are-Hebrews 11, Alma 32:17-43, Ether 12:6-12, and Joseph Smith History 1:11-20.

We have to read two conference talks on faith. These are the two talks we have chosen. "Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ" Elder Kevin W. Pearson and "The Power of Covenants" Elder D. Todd Christofferson

We have to show our own faith by establishing a habit of prayer. Morning and evening prayers for three weeks.
Bring it on!
Tina: I loved it in General Conference when Elder Nelson talked about working on the Personal Progress Program with one of his younger daughters, and then wished he would have done so with his older daughters. Yeah! A father working on it with his daughter. I love it!
